I have always been a very loving and easy going person. But since I have started through the change of life, I find myself getting mad about just about anything. You can look at me wrong and I fly off the handle. And I don’t like myself very much after I have one of my fits. My doctor has suggested an anti-depressant, but I don’t want to have to take medicine to feel better. Plus the stuff is very expensive. Thanks everyone who replies. Have a great night all.

3. For help with depression, spend about an hour outdoors everyday, rain or shine. Your bedroom should be so dark when you sleep that you cannot see your hand in front of your face. This helps create endorphins and the other hormone (can’t think of the name) that affect depression.

I recommend that you do not rule out anti-depressants altogether. There are some good ones on the market and your doctor will find the right one for you. It takes about seven weeks to "kick in" and your doctor may have to "tweek" the dosage. I’ve taken them for years for clinical depression and have experienced no side effects.

Peach to you and grace,
Amaleota

P.S. Service to others is a good way to cheer you up, even if it’s only a smile or opening a door for someone.

i am too emotional and take everything personal, let alone the nightsweats. it is like i have no control over my feelings anymore.

For alternative medicine consult that area of *answers*. Consult your OB/GYN for a medication that has a low dose of hormone(s) in it – HRT. Alternative medicines are great, but if you choose to go that route, and also are under the care of your physician let him/her know that you are also using this type of treatment. Good Luck!

Must be natural and over the counter…

The meditative breathing exercise called paced respiration has been shown to significantly reduce hot flashes and emotional symptoms. This approach has no known side effects, risks, or costs and can be safely combined with additional treatment, if needed.
Black cohosh (Remifemin, 20 mg) is shown by some studies to prevent or relieve a broad range of menopause symptoms for many women.Other studies have shown no improvement. Safety of long-term use beyond 6 months is not yet known. (Risks similar to estrogen risks are a possibility.) Have regular checkups if you are using black cohosh, and make sure your health professional knows what you are taking.
Soy phytoestrogens are in more complete form when included in your daily diet, rather than in dietary supplements. Regularly eating and drinking soy may help even out menopause symptoms, but studies have yet to clearly demonstrate that soy is effective for treating hot flashes.
Yoga (which often includes meditative breathing) and/or biofeedback give you tools you can use to reduce stress. Heightened stress is likely to worsen your symptoms.
Based on the latest research, some therapies are not recommended for menopause symptoms, either because they are not effective or because they can cause dangerous effects. These include:

Kava, evening primrose, dong quai, valerian, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), and angelica.
Wild yam or natural progesterone creams.

Ayuda – Naturally Eases Menopausal Symptoms

To combat the symptoms of the menopause, your doctor might have suggested taking estrogen and progesterone, known as hormone replacement therapy or HRT. However, recent studies, including one long-term study of more than 16,000 women between the ages of 50 and 79 revealed that HRT did pose some major health risks. Consequently, women have been looking towards natural remedies such as Ayuda – a natural food supplement designed to help with the symptoms of the menopause.

Karen Ashby, editor of Europe’s biggest Health and Beauty magazine, Essential Woman, tried Ayuda herself once her menopause began. Here is her testimony:

“I read up on the ingredients and once I was satisfied it wouldn’t harm me in any way I decided to try it. Within 2 weeks I started to feel better. The night sweats weren’t as frequent so I was sleeping better which meant I wasn’t so grouchy and tired during the day. Within a month I was feeling like my old self again. A couple of weeks ago, I decided that the pills had worked their magic and I didn’t need them any more, but within a week, I was getting hot flushes and wasn’t sleeping well again. I immediately re-started Ayuda and the symptoms disappeared again so now I make sure I take one every day. Now, I barely notice my menopause. Any woman contemplating using HRT or suffering with the symptoms of the menopause really should give Ayuda a try.”
